Total File Size of Macintosh Garden?

I'm wanting to download the entire collection you have... but this is just an intention...Or in other words, I don't know if I will do or not

Especially because I don't have a real mac computer and I think I will have to run these things emulated

Of course, I know some of the downloads here are in external servers like Megaupload, Mediafire.

What I'm wanting is just a number (or some sort of it) or if someone here has managed to download the entire collection it would be cool if I could know the size in gigabytes...

And I think it would be cool if I could know the size of apps and the size of games separated,

I think I will have to make a program or script to check all the pages to get the links... but this thing it's my business!!! hahahahhahaha

Just call me a donwload addicted! LOL hahhahahahhahaha

Note: I was not drunk when I wrote this topic. Slackers are slackers, they don't like to work too much!!!! hahahahhahahahaaha

With files ranging from a few kb to several hundreds of megabyte on some multi disc games I guess it is a higher three digit GB number. But this is just an estimate. Only the admins will probably be able to answer this question.

I wonder, however, why you would want to download the entire mac garden? Especially if you won't be able to use 50% or more with the emulator!? Better search the categories for the stuff that is really interesting for you and download one by one. It'll make it easier for you to keep an overview and keep the mac garden's bandwith costs low... Last I checked, it was 3.24 BB (Bazillionbytes) but of course that number is dynamic.

I would never download everything on the Mac Garden. For example, there's a few duplicates, a few games that look like garbage, and a few that I wouldn't want anyway.

I suppose you have already contributed to this site by uploading some things as well? There's a lot of words associated with people who just take, and none of them are too flattering. I hope you don't mind the innuendo, but your screen name does seem to imply something. Wink

Yeah... I contributed with it three years ago. I still remember the old Macintosh Garden. Wink

In that time I found this site not by "Home of the Underdogs", but it was by WinWorld "http://winworldpc.com/".

Cool. But if you're serious about downloading a lot of stuff (because it really is insane to down the whole site, for various reasons-- but hey, that's your prerogative) there's the inescapable technical difficulties of outside links, broken links, a crazy amount of time and bandwidth, and not the least concerning, but stuff you'll just find "stupid". So like the others have said, you just need to be selective about it. Good luck and we'll talk about your progress on this endeavor next year some time... Smile

Its mentioned in this quite awesome tale, that a 'web crawler' application in 1995 could in theory, download the internet.

well 15 years later, there must be a reasonable chance that something exists along these lines that could download the contents of a single site

Not that i would do that, but these things are neat to know

Thank you, mr Innes for B3TA site... i didn't know about it... Smile

Well... In theory if you created an appication that could scan all IPV4 addresses xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and used WGET for download them you could download the entire internet... but as WGET is limited only for FTP, HTML,XML and CSS you would need to use a better application that could parse javascripts, flash files, php/perl/python scripts and so on to download everything

Go ahead and download from the download services. Jdownloader helps. BUT please be ready to re-upload stuff if it disappears! As for the Amazon S3 links, those cost us a bit, and aren't going to disappear, so download only if you want something.
