Strategic Conquest 3.0

In additon to Archon, this is the other classic I haven't been able to find since I lost my disk long, long ago!

I'm trying to source Strategic Conquest version 3.0. I've seen 2.0 around, but it doesn't support macintalk, and Joe from Delta Tao was kind enough to forward me a trial of version 4.0 - but that doesn't run on my Mac SE/30 (bombs) and also doesn't have the macintalk, which made the version 3 so charming.

He says version 3.0 is not available anywhere, but perhaps someone here has it?? Anyone??

Mmm, I've only got v2 and v4. If I'd ever come across v3 I would have kept it.

Quick search, I may also have v1, it has no version info and it's only 100KB, v2.0.55 is 224KB. But no v3.

Strategic Conquest has been asked to be removed from Macintosh Garden (any version).

EDIT: Wow, what a brain fart; I've removed my post. I was thinking about Strategic Conquest, looked away for a second, and when I looked back I was writing about Spaceward Ho! Another Delta Tao game but not the same.

Yes, I understand it's not to be hosted here (sadly) - but if anyone has the original disc for version 3, I'd be interested in swapping...especially (and here's the bit I don't understand) since it's pretty well officially NLA.

As I said too - the other attraction of version 3, apart from the fact it seems to be rare, is that it's the only version with macintalk support, which was great back in the day:

"your battleship, strength 10, repelled an attacking battleship." Classic stuff.

I've got the original disk for Strat Con 3, one of my favorite all time games. I recently set about finding an old Quadra 700 and restoring it to the same one I spent $3300 for in 1992 (cost me $15!!!!). I got everything up and running, popped the disk in and was hit with the old 'this disc is unreadable...format?' I about crapped myself. If anyone has any suggestions on how to recover this, I'd be grateful and then willing to help out.

Filthy floopy disk drive heads ? The floppy drive slot used to be the primary air intake for Macs (and PCs).

What's the easiest way to clean the heads? My SE/30 won't read any disks either. And if I try to format a disk it will fail immediately at the verifying stage.

I don't have any cleaning disks but would be chuffed if I could get it working without having to crack it open and take out the drive.

or Maplin in the UK, or google it where you are.

No guarantee of success, this was just a guess at the issue.

I hope your disk drive gets working... I'd love to be playing me some SC 3.0!
