Sound

I'm running System 7.5.5 on Basilisk II. I am attempting to play Snakes Alive! and Pararena 2. The games run fine but the sound does not work. Is this an issue of the emulator, QuickTime, or the games themselves? Could anyone test these copies of the games on a real mac to see if there is sound?

Thanks

i donno...

some of the really old apps that i copy on to my actual PPC system 8.6 dont have sound either...

i think its that the old apps use a different sound system then the later ones... so it appears to dont have sound...

you should try an emulator that is designed for such old apps... then that should fix the problem...

It's often either a System 6 application that won't have sound in System 7, or will only have sound if you use System 7 with the right version of the Sound Manager control panel, usually 3.0 or 3.1 I think. Best thing to do is set up Mini vMac with System 6 for those oldies.

Such games try to access sound hardware directly instead of using system resources, so they can't play sound on newer hardware.

This is my try to describe this problem at my site.
