Prime Target

Any idea when Prime Target will be available on the site again or where I could get it? I have conflicting versions on my hard drive. One is version 1.2 but is only a 4mb sit, and the other version is unknown and is 10mb sit and the app is marked with a [k] after the file name. I assume neither is the full version. Also, does anyone have the official updater? I've searched everywhere. I've played through the game before but ran into some errors that are reportedly fixed in v1.2. If I could get the updater, I wouldn't mind just buying the game CD. Thanks much.

Hey, I was the original uploader for Prime Target. The download for the game here is 40mb or so, its also cracked. Dident run into any problems last time I played. I reckon itd be easier if someone would upload an image of the CD. So if you're willing to buy it, I say absolutely. Looking forward to hearing the soundtrack after all this time playing round with the cracked version. Tongue

Cheers,
p.s I did see an updater ages ago on the net, but hey the CD may come with one already Smile

This also looks like an interesting auction - http://cgi.ebay.com/ZPC-NEW-Sealed-Macintosh-Mac-Apple-Game_W0QQitemZ200...

Never thought id see an uncracked (sealed) version of this for mac.

I have the v1.2 updater, (32MB) from an October 1997 MacWorld cover disc.

I've also got a Prime Target v1.2 Demo, from MacFormat issue 77 cover disc, it weighs in at 11.6MB.

Just checked the updater Read Me. It's the whole game !! But it requires the Prime Target CD to be in the drive to play.

So do I upload the updater ? Kinda useless without the original CD.

Hopefully I can get the original CD up when it gets here. In the mean time, could you upload the updater to a fileshare (like megaupload or rapidshare or something) and post a link here? If its not in a sit file remember to binhex it or something.

The CD has audio tracks. What format image would be best?

Are the audio tracks separate to the game data? Much like the quake series (2 CD icons on the desktop). Never found out how to merge, im guessing .toast format?

No clue how to make a toast file. Working on XP or Linux here. Bin/Cue format works for me, but I don't know about its compatibility with other configurations.

Toast handles bin/cue, so it would be perfect.

How should I go about uploading the game? I notice that most large downloads on this site are unavailable. Should I upload here or somewhere else? Also the disk image zips are about 340MB but with the updater and game manual it ends up at 407MB. A 7zip archive brings all the files (CD, updater, and manual) down to 328MB, but isn't listed as an acceptable format here.

The 407MB unzipped BIN/CUE files could be uploaded to a file hosting site like MegaUpload / MediaFire, etc. For MegaUpload you don't even need to create a (free) account.

One or more of us here mght then download it, convert it to a .toast and re-upload to a file-hosting site. All your hard work would not go to waste, nor un-credited, your file-hosting site link would stay on the page for the game. It sounds like BIN/CUE might be a very useful format for CDs like this, so we wouldn't want to remove it. The toast format version would be for those who don't have Toast (ironically) but have shareware / freeware that can mount Toast disc images.

Earliest I can upload is 2am when my free bandwidth kicks in (I only get 200MB a day!). Until then I'll try to compile these scanned manual images into a pdf or something. I'm going to upload the files in a 7zip archive, so let me know before 2am if there is another archive format you'd like.

Yes Ive been waiting on this request for a long time now. But I think that I live too far away for you to send me the game, I'm sure thered someone round here thatl be keen to get it off you though... First, could you please try putting it on megaupload again? All you need to do is save the CD image as a .toast file, in the toast app.

Cheers.

Having a problem with the file. (thanks for the manual).. First I try opening Prime Target.bin, it unpacks to a .cpgz file. I then try opening the .cpgz file, and get the same result ".cpgz1" just a duplicate. Anyway around this? Maybe try using toast?

P.S The .bin file is is about 200mb more than the .cpgz that comes out of it.

Thanks again.

I burned this cue/bin with LiquidCD and it seems at first glans when mounting in OS X/Leopard it worked right out of the box! No errors reported and I get a data volume and audio volume. Smile

If there is some better format I can rip the CD in on a windows or linux system, let me know and I'll reupload it. No mac system here (except an old G3).

.7z is not too Mac friendly. .rar is better. .zip would be better still.

I meant the bin/cue format not the archive format. 7z has awesome compression, but noted for future reference.

I uploaded this so someone could work with it repack it and upload it to the site or something.

OK, bin/cue or iso is fine for CD based stuff. Toast for Mac (all versions since 5) can mount and burn this. Toast 6/7 or later can create them too.

Some may whine about bin/cue not being ideal, but they need to learn to use Toast, it's insane to try to manage a large number of disc images without it.

I've tried the bin/cue thing (other discs) with Toast 5 & 6, no luck. Had to use a Windows machine to convert it to .iso format.

ADD: And that wasn't even anything to do with audio tracks!

I tried this bin/cue w Toast 5.2.3 under Leo and it failed at producing the audio sessions content. All my doing here is in Leopard. For fellow users there's another app called AnyToISO doing exactly what is says. Else use LiquidCD directly w the bin/cue of this kind.

Here´s something out of the past: BINChunker running under OS 9 at least, it relies on Carbon Lib.

It *should* IIRC produce an ISO from a BIN/CUE pair. The archive weighs around 20KB. Smile HTH!

Usually converting a bin/cue to iso only preserves the data portion. I just mounted the bin/cue in daemon tools on my windows machine and can play it as an audio CD. I fired up sheepshaver and I noticed that the CD music doesn't play in game, but the audio tracks can be played with the control strip player. Don't know how I missed this.

As a note I compiled bchunk and it splits up the bin cue into an iso image and a series wavs from the music tracks.

So if you know how to compile and want to check out the music tracks separately you might want to check it out.

was anyone able to upload a repack of all of this so that the site could use this? Or is the file still too big even in a compressed format...

Does anyone know where to get access card 14 in the old senate wing? Or know where to get a walkthrough?

Access Card 14 is located in the US Capitol Old Senate Wing. Go to the Southwest corner to a room that requires Access Card 13, and get number 14.
I have Access Cards 1 through 26, and 31 & 32.
And I'm stuck too if anyone knows where Access Card 27 is or where I should go with 32?
Thanks!

Hi! I thought this was a bug, but apparently there is no card 26. You need to proceed to the Dalton Technologies building through the subway station. There, all of your access cards will disappear (which I thought was a bug, which is why I played through the game again after waiting a couple of years). You'll need to go through the floors of this building to collect access cards 1-6 and fight the boss on the fifth floor. Let me know how it goes if you're still playing!
