Here's another game I can't run. It doesn't work in SheepShaver/Basilisk and doesn't even install in classic. Could someone please test it on a real computer?

Tested it on my G3 iMac (9.2.2) last night. Mounted the Toast image just fine, and it seemed to install okay, BUT it told me that full install would be over 500MB, and in fact was only 100+ MB. The game started (needed the image to be mounted) but wouldn't get past the intro screens before crashing. I haven't had a chance to test with earlier operating systems, nor have I tried the other install options.
Damn. That's what happened to me, too.
I'm guessing you don't have the actual CD, Carl?
I don't.
i've never had any success installing this game at all (even off the retail disk) except once: the small install (40 megs or so) on a 7500 about 9 years ago. luckily i kept the files and it has played successfully on a few comps. i can mega-up them if someone wants to take a shot running the game.
I'm not sure if that would help much since this version apparently doesn't work, but it would be great if you could make an image of your CD if you still have it.
sure, i can try it. but hmm... the retail disk mounts on the desktop as a data image plus a cd audio image-how do i make that a single image? i also found another disk that i burned from a retromac image ( i think-it was a long time ago). it mounts as a data image only. as i said, neither installs but both play with the data files i mentioned in my previous post. i can up either image provided someone can tell me how to successfully toast the retail disk. btw your toast image mounts but with a disk repair error message
ok, i figured out that you need to turn virtual memory off in order to install this game (not sure how you do this under classic). so i've successfully installed it on 3 g3 ibooks and 1 g3 imac. 2 running 9.04 and 2 running 9.2. thats where the good news ends. on 3 of them the game starts, menu screens are fine but the game crashes as soon as you start a mission, launch error -5012 (anyone else get this?) but one ibook (g3 366mhz 9.04) plays fine -using the same procedure and disk! man, i gotta get to the bottom of this...
here is my disk image for someone to test:

also here is a small install folder:
http://www.mediafire.com/?5fmy1j5jojm
as i mentioned previously, it is the only way i have gotten this game to run. weirdly, i was even able to run the game from a large installation made from the disk image (turn off virtual memory first) but only by having the small install folder on system. could someone please test this? if there is some success i can make a legitimate entry to the maccgarden archive
Doesn't work for me in Classic(9.2.2) or SheepShaver(9.0.4). I don't have a machine capable of running an older OS so I can't try that, sorry.
There's an update, though, which you might want to try if you haven't already. It didn't help me but you may have more luck.
thanks, i'll try the update and see what happens but as i said, it works perfectly for me using the small install i upped. hopefully someone on an older mac will be able to play it. it's a marvelous game-closer to a flight sim than a shooter and better than shattered steel IMO
You can simply use MechWarrior 2 for DOS, and run in Boxer:
MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries
http://www.gameswin.org/download.php?id=859
MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat
http://www.gameswin.org/download.php?id=826
MechWarrior 2: Ghost Bear's Legacy

I'm uploading the full disc image as we speak - it should be available by the end of the day.
Don't forget the 1.2 update!
It's posted http://macintoshgarden.org/games/mechwarrior-2
It's set in archived mode though so an admin'll have to upload it to megaupload or something to make it available.
Hey the link that you have provided contains the MechWarrior 2 game,I had installed it on my G3 iMac (9.2.2),
its working very great, you might be facing problem of the virtual memory which is to be flashed,
first uninstall the game and try to flush your computer memory and then install it,might be it will work for you.I really enjoyed playing that game. Thanks for the link

@rooni777: I´d remove that bottom line if I was to stay for much longer here. Just a friendly advice to a newcomer.
I really loved how you have created your site, it's simple, neat, simple to get around and very easy on the eyes. Can you let me know which theme or designer did you use.sameer thapar
