Japanese language kit for System 7.5.5, OS 9.2.2?

I'm looking for the Japanese language kit for System 7.5.5 and OS 9.2.2, specifically so I could play Tower 1.2 in actual Japanese rather than random characters.

We do have it, right?

For OS 9, it can be installable on the install CD.

Beware, though, that for Mac OS 9.2.2 you need the language kits from a Mac OS 9.1 CD or higher. The language kits included in Mac OS 9.0 - 9.0.4 CDs are not the same as the ones in the 9.1 -9.2.2 CDs.

bertyboy and Bolkonskij have already uploaded Mac OS 9.2.2 CDs (MDD and eMac):

OK. Using the Mac OS 9.2 CDs I have, I installed the Japanese language kit successfully!

YAY!

But then the Mac basically refused to start up.

OH NO!

Restarting with the extensions off allowed me to access Extensions Manager and turn off some weird Language Kit-related extensions. Then it worked normally. The Mac surprised me...the Language Kit HAD installed successfully, and I could play TOWER 1.2 in Japanese.

YAY!

But when I went to shut down, the Mac closed one window, and promptly froze.

OH NO!

Anyone knows what's going on...?

The language kits installer installs the system extensions WorldScript I and/or II (which one depends on the kit; one of them is for the Japanese kits). One of these extensions might be in conflict with other extensions. For instance, there is a known conflict between one of the WorldScript extensions (I do not remember which one of the two) and Adobe Type Manager higher than v4.6 (i.e. v4.6.2 is in conflict).

In your case there also might be such a conflict. Try ConflictCatcher (downloadable on this site).

Also, please note that not all applications are WorldScript savvy, that is they will simply not recognize the language kit (for instance InDesign). In this case, however, there will not be a system conflict - instead the kit will simply not work, but your system should boot with no problems.
