This one can be dumped:
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/systemtools
It's just part of System 3.2, which is better represented here:
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/system-32
Looks like there are a lot of duplicates (especially in the "System 7.x" area). Could people post info about those here, and which pages specifically should be deleted? Space is VERY limited.
I've taken care of those three ... any more?
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/system-753
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/system-755
System 7.5.3 has been uploaded twice.
I added the archive found here:
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/mac-os-6-delete-please
To this aggregate System 6 archive:
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/system-6x
We need to do something about all these System 7.1.x images:
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/more-system-71x-images
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/system-71x-includes-performa-software
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/system-71x
I've consolidated (and expanded) MacWrite entries. You can delete these:
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/macwrite-45-please-delete
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/macwrite-50-please-delete
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/macwrite-pro-please-delete
Then please clarify the one unified entry so that people looking for MacWrite Pro or other specific versions can find them.
The consolidated entry is called MacWrite. Is that what you mean?
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/macwrite
That entry does not mention having the other versions, so the reader doesn't know that other version are included. How do you find MacWrite Pro, or 5.0, etc. if there's no text to tell the search engine or user that they're in there? (-:
Something like "Includes: MacWrite 1.0, 1.1, 4.0, 5.0, MacWrite II 1.0.3, and MacWrite Pro 1.2" would be helpful. (Note that I made that list from imaginary data, since I don't know what's actually in the archive yet.)
Gotcha.
http://macintoshgarden.org/games/3d-checkers
and
http://macintoshgarden.org/games/3d-checkers-51
are exactly the same.
I would remove the -51 one.
I've taken care of all except 3d Checkers. The files are different; one is a .cpt; the other is a .img.sit. Can you fix this up? I'll delete the duplicate once this is done.
EDIT: I've deleted the 3D Checkers duplicate as well.
The img.sit one can be directly mounted in Mini-vMac, while the .cpt have to be extracted first.
This is sort of a borderline case, but this game:
Air Hockey
http://macintoshgarden.org/games/air-hockey
...is nearly identical to:
Shufflepuck Cafe
http://macintoshgarden.org/games/shufflepuck-cafe
The only apparent difference is the name. (I'm not just talking about the game file, but the name embedded in the game's about box, for instance.)
The author, version, menus and all of the interface is exactly the same. I guess it's possible there some differences in the internal physics, but that does not seem probable.
That's interesting ... if they ARE the same, maybe they could be merged. (There are enough differences to merit the preservation of both.)
HELLO. The System 7.5.3 is the Floppy version. The 7.5.5 is the trash, no floppies edition and all of the boot disks are not publicly made by Disk Tools 1 or 2, not Network. I need to replace the 7.5.5 the newer one, that will include the floppies edition and the full edition, 7.5.5 update, and network access disk.
You think the very crazy. The first 2 are my uploads are included all of System 7.1 installations while the Attila has some short one. The:
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/more-system-71x-images
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/system-71x-includes-performa-software
are my exclusive releases.
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/system-71x
Sorry, this one above is the trash. The fewer one stills unstable and short one for starters.
sheepmyshaver123, please post in both English and your own language. I'm having trouble understanding your English.
You may be right that some Performa software is necessary. In http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/tomeviewer there's a request from grawlix.computing for help with Apple Backup, which seems to be included on Performa.
The problem with Apple Backup, or at least my problem with it, is that there's no general extractor. So you can't pick files out of a restore set, or even get it to run if it realizes that you're running it a machine different than a particular target system.
"8" ball and "eight" ball deluxe are duplicates, also there are two "Same Game"s
Edit: i checked and the one that is NOT titled 1.0.7 is v1.0.7 too. Although one is smaller. (48.44 kb).
Just a suggestion, on the subject of avoiding duplicates:
I have a few large archives of my old games and utilities to trawl through looking for new stuff to upload. But going through each title, searching the Macintosh Garden site (using the rather good "Search" bar you have) is an onerous task. I tried it a few weeks ago, after 4 hours I don't think I even got out of the "A"s on the first archive.
What would really help is a download of all the titles (games and apps) currently uploaded, perhaps CSV format, with as much other detail as you think appropriate, ie, publisher, year, size. This would let me pull it into a FileMaker / MySQL / Oracle database, along with a list of what I have in the archives, and easily highlight what is suitable for upload.
Needed one time only, I'd keep watch on the tracker page for new titles uploaded by others and chalk them off (but if you produced it regularly, or on the fly, all the better). I did this with the retromac hotline server, made it infinitely easier to submit stuff.
@bertyboy:
See http://macintoshgarden.org/apps_one_page for apps, and http://macintoshgarden.org/games_one_page for games. There are six pages of 200 games each, and I can't fit all 1200 on one page!
Gearheads
Edit: i checked and the one that is NOT titled 1.0.7 is v1.0.7 too. Although one is smaller. (48.44 kb).
I removed the newer Same Game 1.07 entry (which has been uploaded as somewhat obscure zip file), moving the good description to the older SameGame page.
F-A-18 Hornet 2.0
@toprak:
One is a CD image; the other is the folder with some extra content. Maybe someone could combine the two (put the extra content in a sit and add the sit to the cd image zip archive)?
What are the differences between my upload (Tom Landy's Strategy Football) and Tom Landy Football, except that Strategy Football is shipped ready-to-play on an img file?
Sorry, my bad. Sometimes you miss it altough you look at the list.
Sometimes the find feature doesn't find it, I believe.
I deleted the newer one, thanks.
g3 throttle
( if they are slightly different somehow, i think it's still better to compress them in one folder under one page, since the app. is so tiny)
If the search function is not finding it, that means it hasn't been indexed yet. Indexing takes place every hour.
You can delete "Adaptec Toast 4.1.2" that I originally uploaded. It's since been superceded by a couple of full versions of Toast, thankfully.
Gearheads. I downloaded both and they are exactly the same.
Stunt Copter
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/virtual-game-station
This page was up before
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/connectix-virtual-game-station
But the new page includes the full CD image, so better delete the original one.
Three times Toast 5 Titanium, decide for one, please:
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/toast-5-titanium (the original, first upload)
When uploading games, maybe we could implement a feature which check whether an entry of the same name already exist. Whether the uploader want to create an entry with the same title then.
Great idea IIGS User, but do you know how to code it in php? Because apparently drupal don't have that option.
Note: drupal is the content management platform used on this site. More info at http://drupal.org/
No idea how to.
Please delete my broken Kid Pix Studio Deluxe upload (http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/kid-pix-studio-deluxe). For some reason it didn't work out (details: http://macintoshgarden.org/forum/uploading-issues ).
j_damage•69 managed to upload it successfully now: http://macintoshgarden.org/games/kid-pix-studio-deluxe so there is no need for it any longer.
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/claris-works-30 has a crippled version that doesn't work with 68k Macs/emulators. The real deal is at http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/clarisworks-3
Also http://macintoshgarden.org/games/tomb-raider-3 is the duplicate of http://macintoshgarden.org/games/tomb-raider-3-0 but for uploading issues, though.
http://macintoshgarden.org/games/wolfenstein-awesome-resurrection
is a duplicate entry with no game or screenshot . had uploading problems and had to make a new entry to get the files up. new fixed entry is called "Awesome Resurrection 4"
http://macintoshgarden.org/games/conectix-vgs-14
This page is now redundant and can be deleted.
Grrr, three copies of Toast 5 Titanium again:
Only the first one appears to have the full install media, but I'm sure it's missing the useful updates required, ie.
- to v5.0.2 to run in OS9 and still use OS9's Finder Disc Burning, iTunes cd burning, or
- to v5.1.2, the last patch for OS9, or
- to v5.2.3, the last patch for OSX.
Chamber of Potter deleted.
Thanks.
http://macintoshgarden.org/games/jedi-knight-ii-jedi-outcast
This is not a duplicate, but the game is question is not yet abandonware. Please delete it.
These pages can definitely be deleted, the sooner the better:
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/toast-5-titanium-0
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/toast-titanium-52
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/toast-titanium-501
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/toast-titanium-523-updater
Thanks to everyone for contributing what they have, and we now have a cleaned up page available:
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/toast-5-titanium (DONT DELETE THIS ONE!)
Requested Toast pages have been deleted.
Thanks for cleaning up.
